News: Item Detail Pages

Item level detail pages are here. Add tags to your entry to help
support future search capabilities. Define custom deep links to your
most important or significant pages. Your link to Grokodile activates
this feature; be sure to include the ’s’ parameter.

Not sure what I am talking about?  Don’t worry.  You don’t have to worry about these detail pages if you don’t want to.  Some folks that us our directory will be excited by these changes… but they are entirely optional.

News: Directory Progress News

Interested in following along in the development of Grokodile? Now
you can read about our news and events on this page. Woohoo!

Actually, at the time this was written, news was being published on the directory itself.  As you can see, we have since moved our news to this blog.  What a great idea!

News: Community Paging

Paging has been added to communities that have more than 20 entries.
This limits the number of outbound links per page and provides a clear
differentiation in terms of result rank.

However, keep in mind, one of the benefits of a regional directory is that you aren’t competing with the entire world when it comes to visibility in your own community.

News: Blog List Feeds

Both top and recent blog lists are now available as XML feeds. Keep up
with new or popular blogs in your favorite news reader.

Each community page within our directory lists both the most popular blogs and the most recent blogs within that state, province, oblast, district or other type of regional division.

News: Recently Added Blogs

Recently added entries are now listed for the entire state within each
community. Now you can more easily find new blog listings in nearby
regions.

This means that when viewing your own community, you will be able to see recently added blogs in nearby communities as well as your own.  We made this change because of feedback concerning how time consuming it was to go search through communities for new additions.

News: Quality Reporting

Public quality reporting is now available. Any non-featured entry
now displays a ‘report’ option to help ensure that we provide only the
highest quality items.

We do review entries to ensure that they are of appropiate quality at the time of submission, but over time things can change.  Now, if something inappropriate is in your community, you can have us correct that problem.
